Hey guys, I'm going to grab an SP to start gigging with. I've already got a Kaoss Pad (which does looping) so completely disregarding price (they're the same price new now apparently!?) Would you prefer an SP-404sx with a Kaoss Pad or an SP-555 to play a gig with?

No he means 404SX+kp3 vs 555
It depends on one thing I would say:
Do you want velocity sensitive pads? if you do, 555.
Otherwise, 404sx+kp3

No I went into the shop and I was like "555" and they were like errr... "799". They quoted 750 for the 404sx, but on a 2nd look saw that I'll get it a lot cheeper.
But apart from velocity I guess there's not much in it hey... apart from being able to dump samples from the looper to the pads inside the box.
On the topic of velocity sensitivity though, I just saw this
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=7405 looks like he was triggering his 404 from his Behringer FCB1010 at a lower velocity... does that mean that the 404sx is velocity sensitive if triggered through pads?

yeah if u use a midi controller the 404 will change the pad's level depending on the velocity information sent in,
but remember you can't use a midi controller when resampling (and I dont think the sequencer remembers velocity... anyone confirm this?)

the 404og remembers velo City. of it course it recieves midi for that.
he might have been adjusting the level with that behringer (which you can do on the 404). is that fcb the knobby controller?, too lazy to search.
