Firstly, massive props to Teewok for giving me the chance to pick samples for a battle. Thanks!
This one's just a little different to the others, it comes with 3 samples instead of the usual 2. Other than that the normal rules apply: SPs only, no external samples.
Samples are:
The drums:
Melvins- Cowhttp://www.box.net/shared/o6hl7y15j3The synth:
Boards of Canada- Over The Horizon Radarhttp://www.box.net/shared/x7xzk2opn4The song:
Refused- The Apollo Programme Was A Hoaxhttp://www.box.net/shared/ze614ex3ktUsing either Boards or Refused didn't seem like enough to make a good tune, but together they should be interesting. Make sure you've either got a good ear or a guitar tuner nearby to get it all in key, its time to work your SP's pitch shifter!
This comps ends on Tuesday 26th of October. Get cracking!

Here's mine-- I'm still not used to recording on this boss, hopefully the levels sound slright. Looking forward to hearing some more joints! Peace.

Love the drum sample.
Gonna be in on this, should be able to post something tomorrow when I get time. Been messing around with making a bassline, shit has gone a bit dubstep (wubwubwub)!

yo,
sp-404
P.S.
if you want to add shit like ^this box.net player to your posts, just create a folder in your box.net account, put your beat there, then right-click on the folder with your beat inside, choose "Share", then "embed folder in your site".
In the pop-up window you will se some strange code, find this thing in the code:
"........widget_hash=t0jr1tb306&v=0&cl=0"......" (copy those characters which are placed between "hash=" and "&"
then, write in your post like that: "[box](paste things underlined above)[/box]"
for example:
"[box]t0jr1tb306[/box]"

The samples (though I liked them) didn't really click with me, and i'm still learning so I couldn't really force out a beat, ended up mangling it into a mid-bass thing with random drumming

Its a bit crappy and unfinished, but I learnt some new things about using the 404 so its cool:

Here's mine. Its way minimal, but is powerful and cinematic at the same time. I think I'm going to touch this up sometime in the future with some orchestral strings. I hope you dig it.

Hey everyone...new member here. Just got my Roland SP-404SX a few weeks ago and I felt a little lost so I'm glad that I found this site. I've been enjoying everyone's stuff for this battle and others. You guys are fucking inspiring.
Here's my entry for this battle:
