Can any of you MIDIheads help me with this question?

I don't know if this would work or not but i'm using an mpc2500. if i'm in reason, or any software sequencer really, with my keyboard midi out to midi in on computer, and vice versa, can i plug the midi thru from the keyboard to midi in on the mpc? it seems like i'd be able to hit rec on the mpc, then simply playback the reason midi data, and it should capture it right? then i could use my own mpc instrument programs to figure out what sound i want. i don't have reason installed on my computer yet, but has anyone tried to do this before?

my midi keyboard is one from the 90's running through my sp 555 before the computer. didnt think it would work but it did
just make sure you read about the mpc's midi through if you need to change a setting or whatnot and maybe grab a generic midi driver online, although you probably wont have to

why don't you try directly with the midi out of your interface card (if you got one) to the midi in of the mpc?
i've got an mpc1000, i never try this anyway. but i got an akai remix 16 and sometimes i play it as a midi sound module with a midi keyboard or the yamaha qy70.
