Thanks... I was wondering about the GATE button. So, make sure it is off when I'm sampling, or off when playing back a pattern... or both?

When playing back. Be sure the sample is well chopped and set the pattern bpm to match the samples bpm.

The third knob is for the volume level. Press the Start/End/Level button again after you are done editing to apply the changes. Repeat the steps again to trim it more.
