hi guyz
recently i have some problems with my work. so i have to move along France and Italy in the next month.
i want to know if some of you have experience with portable recorders+usb.
expecially i want you to give me your opinion about:
-Boss Micro br
-Tascam dp 004
-Tascam pocket studio 5
-Korg Toneworks Pxr4
...i know that all of them don't have a midi connection to sync (the pocket five got a midi in but it isn't used to have midi sync)and they have the possibility to use batteries. i prefer the Tascam dp 004 above all, because you can mix. but i want to know about the others, expecially the Boss.
all of them got usb connection and they use different card: the boss, the dp004=sd card; the pocket 5=cf card; the korg=smartmedia.
peace'n thanx

The Tascam dp 004 is rather good, but I hear good things about the Boss Micro br as well.

thanx phemox.
have you heard if the Boss got a metronome? i found nothing in the manual, and about the mixing too.

No, I don't think it has a metronome nor more advanced mixing capabilities.

The micro BR is the best choice for travelling and recording, it has metronome, drum machine. guitar effects etc. Nothing's best

Reason enough to look for something else if you ask me. It's nearly impossible to get good smartmedia cards for normal prices these days, unless that machine can read the biggest smartmedia cards that are still left.
I'd say go with the Tascam 004 or Micro BR.

the dp-004 and the micro br are maybe great machines, but they've got no midi in/out to sync them with the sp-beasts.
but now it's too late!
i ordered one zoom mrs-4...
...and it will came with 2 128mb and 1 64mb smartmedia cards...
...all this for the price of 79€ i think it's ok
thanx

Yup, that's right... no midi sync. Keep us posted about that Zoom though. I did read some positive reviews about them.

i will tell you in the next days if this zoom machine is ok. the only doubt i have is about its recording volume, maybe it's a little weak and need some preamp. i will see.
anyway this little beast got also the mute/unmute track wich is a good trick while bouncing...
peace
