well i know i just got my shit but how about a battle? i saw another thread about this but it didn't look like it went anywhere (am i wrong?) so... if anyone else wants to go i'd be good practice for me at least and you masters out there can hand me my ass! =) someone posts a sample and we all freak it what say? let's do it pure 404 no multi-trak cool? hit me back playaz...

aight well it looks like it's just us three but i won't start the clock just yet. i've never done this before but here's my idea for the rules:

1. only 404, nothing else.
2. all sequencing, arranging, etc. 404, no multi-tracking or huge DAW effects.
3. you can master it externally, fix minor glitches, compression, but that's it.
4. you must use the elements from the audio file posted. you can also use whatever other elements you want but the main sample should be from the posted audio.

this sound ok to everybody? like i said this is my first time so i may be leaving things out. audio forthcoming as soon as we finalize the rules...

Depending on the deadline I maybe up for a battle. I like the idea.

It remembers of a challenge on another forum : doin' a dope track with only Collins, Sting & Dire Straits samples. not easy.

Would be dope to just have a bunch of cats, then somebody posts a song wich everybody uses in there own way [with the 404..] Then post all songs an have a poll or sumtin?..........

FamicoM: yeah that sounds like a good way to do it. aight js if you want you can pick the song. are we allowed to use external elements or can we just use the source material? if js doesn't post a suggestion by tomorrow i guess i'll post one.

I'd go for the "no external elements allowed", this time. Next time rules might get more creative (eg only what you can get from your internal mic).

thats the way i understood it. if everyone objects we can change it but it might inspire more creativity.

I'm having a hard time coming up with something... especially now that the rules won't allow outside elements. How about a cliche...something that has been used over and over...like James Brown or Black Sabbath? Makes it harder to really do something different with something that been used alot.
