hi i only just bought an sp 555 and have just got a SanDisk 2Gb ultra 2 CF card for it as lots of people on this forum said it works fine.

I cant get it to work i format the card on the sp 555 then plug into my pc card reader and load up the wave converter and i can select the drive and assign samples to the pads but as soon as i take it out of the pc and insert it into the sp 555 and turn the power on the damn thing wont power up... so i take it out and turn it on and it powers up.

is my card f00ked ? i cant see that im doing anything wrong as its pretty straight forward.

can anyone help ?

sounds like there's something amiss to me, where did you buy the card from? are you sure its genuine, if not stick it into your pc and look at it through device manager, this should show up the real brand of the card if it is indeed a fake, currently i'm using a 1gb sandisk ultra II and a 2gb sandisk extreme III and both work without a hitch..

Yeah that's the one I'm using right now. Does it work before you try and format it with your PC? Does it work in the 555 as just a blank CF card? If not then it might be a bad card. There's a post on here somewhere from me where I had a card that would only half way work sort of. It's really counterintuitive because you'd think if it was bad it wouldn't work at all.

i got the card from amazon marketplace it didnt come in retail packaging just in one of those plastic cases you get for them so maby it wasnt brand new ? it doent say anything about wether its genuine or not in device manager maby cus windows vista sucks ?

it did work the first time i tryed it as a blank card before i took it out that is. then it wont turn on with the card in . i turned it on then put the card in i know i shouldnt but its the only way i could get it to turn on and when i put the card in it would only let me format but then would let me use it as a blank card. so it kinda worked but not :/

going to try a new card should i go for the same one or try a different one ?

that same type should work. and i remember it being one of the cheaper ones especially for 2gb. 2gb is PLENTY of time.

i got my new card same one as before and it works finally!
