Someting a bit different this time, rather than a set sample pack to choose from...

The task...

Choose one of your favouritest ever sample-based songs and look it up on Whosampled and use the listed songs that were sampled for it and make, not a remake, but something new.
You don't have to use the same snippets as used in your favourite - you can use any part(s) from the whole track lengths of the listed songs.

For example: if my favourite tune was Shook Ones Pt II, I'd go here...

https://www.whosampled.com/Mobb-Deep/Sh ... I/samples/

...and see that I can sample anything from the entirety of Jessica, Kitty With The Bent Frame and Dirty Feet to make my beat. Ya dig?

Only samples from songs used in your favourite allowed. No acapellas unless related to the favourite or songs sampled. Own synth or live bass OK. External pitching (speed-type only) for non-mkii users OK. Limited external effects/"mastering" etc OK.

Deadline is midnight PT, Saturday 6th July, with voting Sun 7th - Mon 8th.

PM the link to your track and the main Whosampled page for your chosen song to me as it's an anonymous round!

Selecta!

[In memoriam... Scrublet - one of the bestest cats who ever was (apart from the time he fell out of a window a month after I'd cancelled the pet insurance)]

Really like the thinking outside the box concept of this battle! Do you think make it anonymous? I know you mentioned that in your last battle

If you reckon yeah. I just noticed that every time I go away and come back, everyone's back to posting links, so I assumed the anonymous thing wasn't popular?

I always liked it! Removed any bias and its fun to try and figure out who’s is whose from the style!

OK. Everyone - don't post your links below. PM them to me! Along with a little bit about why you chose the song you did.

I thought so...but I'm not sure many people felt the same - looks like only 3 entries!
