My vote goes to The Wayward Pressman this time, I enjoyed that!

Ok here's the rundown for yankee bluejeans, American SP beat battle! I'm the most excited about this because I always want to do dope beat critique, but never had the patients to used this forum on mobile device. SO lets get into it!
Waywardpressman: Wat kind ov DOPE SP BEATMAKER name is that? Wayward like a troubled youth but also pressman, like for a newspaper? EXTRA EXTRA READ ALL ABOUT IT! You have a gay ass name. But your Soundcloud page that popped up looked so clean. A picture of an SP404 while listening to a beat titled SPBB339. is this some kind of theme, I wondered to myself as I listened to your mostly generic, and pedestrian, yet also very polished and well sequenced "DOPE BEAT"
I wonder if it was even made on SP?

But that's what you're going for, right? so I'm listening to it while I jot down these pearls, and it goes into a flying lotus jammy and I got all cunfused. like that's a major departure from what u just did. But cuz I was blazed up!? It took a minute. I'm not voting for you and for that I'm sorry.

asha c/concrete belly: Which is it ? a girls name or something that signifies a rock hard stomach? I'm not really a fan of either. KEL: great name great entry good use of main sample and good use of not using those lame drums homeboy gave you. props for pic of that tasty bitch !{American Masoginy} is gonna be the title of my memoirs. if anyones still reading this you can tell I'm up past my bedtime. which either makes me young or old. Since there's discussion going on 'bout usernames, I might as wall take this opportunity to reveal something about my own username!

I often laugh at the friendly jabs and sarcasm directed at my username on here. This is because the homies on here often say stuff like "SP-USER", while putting emphasis on the "USER" part of my username because I don't actually use an SP (at least not until I get my hands on an SP-404MKII I don't).

But here's the thing; the name "SP-USER" was NOT arrived at as an indication of usage of an SP, it has absolutely nothing to do with that.

The name was arrived at from the Roland way of naming the SP range of samplers. For example, SP-202, SP-303, SP-404 etc, so my username was arrived at by replacing the model number with the denominator "USER" instead, so it's basiclally a play on the format used by Roland themselves, while separating me from models in the SP range.

thought kel's was the technically superior piece — in particular, a beautiful job stitching together the different parts of the sample. could listen to the last 30 seconds on repeat. gorgeous. thought the vox let it down though. would've taken a beat drop instead! (if you're feeling lazy, i kinda wanna flip those last 30 seconds for the next battle...)

but voting for jay, partly to be different, partly because i think kel already has the votes and partly because i dug the grimey bass-y groove. the a cappella landed better for me too. would listen again (and did!).

all right kel, better come up with something good for the next one so unkle sparky can take us down like rabbits in his headlight...

@sparkle appreciate the feedback, I did go for a poor man’s griselda simply because I had about an hour to do something before I left the country haha and yeeee Jaytreaze like ease haha,,

Vote went to wayward, nice selection of chops and could tell you actually had fun making that beat from how you play with the chops at parts that sound almost like improv but still clean, nice work mane
