SP 555 Midi Out not working on MacOs

When I connect my SP 555 to my Mac with a usb cable I can send Midi data to Sp from mac but I cannot recieve any data from my Sp. I have monitored it and I can see all the data from mac to sp but from sp to mac it's just a blank page.

Im not too up to scratch on this but would running your daw in a virtual machine of another operating system, with your 555 plugged in, do anything to see if the issue is an overall macOS thing and not your gear or anything?

I'm not sure probably SP is working fine but it's more of a software issue. I'm gonna buy a midi cable and try that way.
