Wow. Kinda gives me the vibe of some B production horror movie, I like it. That’s what I'll do, gonna make a horror soundtrack

Alright, here's what I came up with :

https://soundcloud.com/user-853604300/s ... es-spbb255

Like I said above, it reminded me of some horror flick from the early 70' / 80', and I really liked the vibe, so i wanted to build the track around the original sample, and add some spooky stuff on the spot.

Chopped up and re-arranged the beat on SP 404sx, then resampled a take with EFXs (mostly 'filter' and 'tape delay' for the hook), and then resampled everything with me on top playing the drums on the SP.

I then exported the take, recorded the bass directly, and compressed it a bit.

Plugged in SP and did a take adding only spooky sounds I had on an old SD card (with a bit of EFX here n' there).

Plugged in Kaossilator and added more spooky sounds.

Exported everything with a bit of Ultramaximizer, just to even out the levels a bit.

Hope you'll like it. Cheers !

i admit i dont like the sample and probably didnt use it well.
kinda dodged it after some attempts
rest of sounds is from the dr202 and i samled some Vinyl words
i recorded vocals on Roland r05 then sampled chopped and fired it on SP
i then slipped the Card to my computer and made an eq litle comp and normalization in ableton so i wont be to silent this time

raps is me and a friend and i would like Feedback to it but dont vote for it, its a beat battle

The other night I got drunk & before going to bed I listened to this sample/song & it intrigued me, so I sampled it into my sp....
things got foggy after that.
The next day I listened to what I made & was pleasantly surprised, so I went at it again with a clear mind & struggled big time.
Maybe that's the key to this one. Get drunk!

If I can turn my drunken loops into a beat before Sunday I'll post it :)

Hahaha! Well, I’m intrigued.

Just listened to the sample myself. It does sound like some drunken master stuff.

Cool to hear these thoughts and submissions...

It's a question worthy of discussion, when picking a sample... what makes a "good" sample, for a battle or otherwise? One that is easy to take a one to four bar loop of and add some drums and sp effects, or one that really pushes you to deconstruct the sounds to build up something new?

I think the chosen sample has some really nice tones and textures in it, but I deliberately chose this cut from the record because it is in 3/4 time sig... I think those that have worked on this so far while drunk just might be on to something!

There is no 'good/bad samples' as long as everyone is on the same shit - it's a battle, and supposed to be a challenge! Including external pitching in the rules opens up pretty much any sample. My opinion.

I totally agree that the challenging sample material is where it’s at. There’s no reward in flipping something obvious or easy. I don’t think every one has to b a ball buster, but the hard ones r fun for sure. This is a good sample. It’s also more fun when each winner picks whatever the heck they want. It would b lame of everyone picked the same kind of “hot” sample.

i dont mean ist a bad sample it just was hard and pissed me off that i ended up sampling a mere 2 sec of the main song.
please Keep bringing all Kinds of stuff, dont let anyone tell you to do anything different. WINNER earned the right to post sample and rules, respect and honor that end of Story.
im here to learn and improve and joined a battle i can live with some scars

I asked a friend who’s a hip hop enthusiasts to spit some bars. He doesn’t rap and hasn’t done this before but we had a fun with it.

Added a little bass to it
