What are some slept on vintage drum machines (with ability to sample, and not keyboards) that aren't popular like SP1200(being popular) and stuff like that.. For some reason, I want to collect many vintage drum machines, i'm looking for ones that can be found for around $400 or less, in that range. I know of some of the stuff from Sequential Circuits, any one else know of any good ones? holla atcha boy

How about the LinnDrum 9000? It is the precursor to the MPC and had many of its features, including sampling, MIDI, SMPTE and touch sensitive pads. Forat Electronics has been building new LinnDrum 9000s (now dubbed F-9000) as well as parts and upgrades for years. Here's a link to their site:

Casio RZ-1

All other sampling drum machines from that era will be alot more expensive.

Definately Casio RZ-1. Its easy to use and samples that you get are very gritty. Look for the plus model or drumware. Those are quite hard to find though.

Get the ASR X PRO.. the excellent thing about this is that you can take any synth or guitar, or even have someone come over and play a riff and you can sample that guitar sound and lay it out on the ASR-X Pro keyboard format and move up and down the scale using that exact same sound.. basically you get the sound not the riff unless you wanted both... To create your own riff or whatever using that sound.. Sweet

You could also use the BR-600. Granted it's a multitrack recorder, but also has a built-in sampler/drum machine with velocity sensitive pads. The other BR's in the series can also do this, but have fewer pads.
