Hey peace yall. 192 was my first battle, glad to have been able to participate.

I can't find these records at the moment, but feel free to look for more quality versions. I tend to not care about stuff like that because my SP is generally anti-quality.

Here are my rules (since this was a tie)

Get your drums ONLY from the break near the end of this record by Jiro Inagaki ------> https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LpBSKv7Z-Ug. the break is around 3:37

I'll let Arizona Al upload a sample or something? hopefully he ups something soon. Lets say voting starts noon on Tuesday?

Heres a melodic record to check for in case he doesn't get to choosing something in time. If Arizona Al does post, then feel free to use everything we've posted, cool?

as far as other rules/preferences....I'm a sucker for texture. Try and keep texture in mind! feel free to use vox, sounds, scratch etc

Yo congrats sevseveer...!! Nice samps man.

I took some chops from the drum solo and slowed them down to better match the tempo of the melodic sample, played live over mbe 32 bars of that bounced to external recorder, then chopped that up and sped it up again... with that I was able to just play the chops into a composition of sorts. Just used the first take. Used resample a few times to overdub some extra keys and FX to give it some needed grit (tape delay while adding bass, then vinyl-sim with the organ-keys). Real quick, but real fun.

I could be wrong about this because I'm relatively new.

but i was under the impression that it is always sp only.

?

peace yall!!!!!!!!!!

I didnt really have time to wait for the Arizona Al's upload, but feel free to keep working on it in/waiting on it in case he drops in at the last minute.

Once again, my sp knob is broken so I use the sample window (i.e "retry" "Play" "keep") in my 2000xl to dump my recordings to make them louder.

I actually didnt use any of the SP compression for the most part on this beat, and tried to achieve texture through a good mix of the drums, natural bassline and recorded noise that I flipped into the instrumental. I was able to do a bit of time stretch and eq to get that grumbly bassline that always sounds raw. It was pretty much a lucky guess the way I got the drums-- I literally just pressed play on the drum break and then hit "mark" at a place where I thought something cool would happen. I've listened back over the drum solo since and I still cant really figure out which part I looped. I also utilized Canceller a bit to give the stereo image some muscle. Always resampling btw, I maybe have used pattern sequence once in the 5 years that ive had my SP.

Tried to keep it simple and organic on here.

BAM....samples chopped and resampled on the OG 404.

I said sp only but I used the microkorg for the bassline, although I sampled the bass notes into the 404 and played it on there...

anyways great samples sevseveer! this was my first battle since 187. I had fun loopin' these samps.

n'abend.. as always, I used resample, not the sequencer.. I only used samples from the two tracks, except the vocal at the beginning.. made some bass with subsonic.. and i used my dbx compressor again, since me and the 12comp dont get along too well...

practiced some new techniques.. chopped up the drums on the 202, sample chops on the 404, resampled, bounced to tape then back to 404 and efx
