&ada: crisp synths. clean drums. nice build up. sad for no vocals.

gis_sweden: on a thought provoking train ride through the chinese suburbs. real nice vibes.

l i f: real smooth. love the time sig. drums wash it along nicely. some of the overlays were a little disorientating at times but kept me guessing.

dimXL: cool and unique drum sounds and sequencing. nice vocal chops. are they your guitar pedals?

abhorrentvomit: real nice simple raw style. layback. does the 202 change the bpm without artefacts? sounds real clean.

9 Beat Combo: First off, welcome! Diggin the offbeat rhythm and wah. Nice key changes.

Alnitak_Kid: Tried to go for a more aggressive angle than usual. Turned out a bit repetitive...

rak: anxiety and then the beat comes in haha. digging the drum and bass sections and piano cuts.

&ada: nice beat man!i like all that 8bit bass style!although i found something weird on those crashes in the begining i really started liking it after that

gis_sewden: that could easily be a great intro in some kind of 80's music i think.good atmosphere

lif: nice groove and chops!i really enjoyed that one.loved the whole beat + the delays.only those cords didn't really suit in my ears (thats kind of greek phrase)

dimXL: good percussion.samples fitted pretty much(liked that vocal part).nice one!

abhorrentvomit: chill beat.i liked the non-kick beat.i would like to have some kind of small sample change although.great vibes!

9 Beat Combo: thats right man!great result!loved the woah woah and whole effects!nice groove.maybe could be just a bit longer

Alnitak_Kid: thats going for sure on the final round! it could be less repetitive but no big deal! good chops

rak: still learning that machine..turned out to be totally different than what i was expecting but i like it(at the end of the tracks some kind of glitch happened and not the original pattern sound did play.but it was better like this )

lif,Alnitak_Kid and 9 Beat Combo are the chosen three for me..
i voted 9 Beat Combo loved the groove!!

(Alnitak those samples were very good,although some of us chose same chops,some other were unexpected!)

p.s. 9 Beat Combo,how did you made the woah woah effect??

Awesome entries from everyone, cool to see how everyone has their own take on the samples provided.

My vote goes to rak!

I love the groove of this beat, the way the stabs jut in and out of the drums had me bobbing away. As an added bonus the whole track changes half way through to keep things interesting; essentially giving you two beats for the price of one!

Closely followed by abhorrentvomit.

The simple but effective looping and spaced out drums gives a great hypnotic feel to the beat.

(To Rak), the wahwah was a looped section of the iiiiii in smile. The wahwah effect was added, along with a tremolo on the one so that the sample ducked behind the kick. The last part was just resampling at different pitches with DJFX Looper.

I liked all the beats and the sample choices were amazing, thanks Alnitak Kid. Ultimately I gotta go for 9 Beat Combo for coming with the swing and nice tones and chops.

Thanks. The 202 does some pretty smooth time stretching if used in moderation. For this particular track I just pitched the tune down.

It's cool seeing everyone's style and interpretation of these samples. This was my first time participating in a beat battle and it won't be my last! Cheers everybody!

nvermind, it's ok, i was very very busy..

Preeshiate the +ve's - some real nice flips this week, some humourous, some raw as fuck and some smmoooth soul sounds... yeh Alnitak, the sample pack was sweet.. esp. nice drum hits rather than breaks really spell some good variety in the beatmaking dept. which I think produced such varied work this week. Usually I stay away from overtly 'jazzy' samples but the vocal made it worthwhile.

Vote wnt to 9 beat for the uplifting riff but srs. props to everyone..!

[I want to state though, in all honesty, that if that guy from toronto is hella FresHsǝɹℲ and we all dodged a bullet this week.]
