Thinking about buying another SP-555 (Had to sell my old one for financial reasons)

I've been working on some new stuff with my buddy and we are trying to get the live performance down to a computer free setup.

Basically I was wondering if anyone has messed around with both machines at the same time, whether you are sampling loops from the pedal to the machine or matching the bpm from the sampler w/ loop pedal. I loved my SP-555 dearly and I don't think I will ever go to the MPC game (I like the lights too much).

Only drawback IMO is the timestretch, but thanks to Based God we have ESX24 to do the sample stretching and altering. Any tips on how to somehow eliminate using a timestretcher for some crazy ass sampling? I am trying to get on that nature wave

I've played with an SP + a RC-30 and an RC-50, kind of the big bros of the RC-20XL....the RC-50 worked well, 3 tracks, never messed with MIDI just by-ear timing.

It was...ok, but never quite inspiring. Then I picked up the Boss RC-505, and so far its the best looper i've ever played with. really opens up the SP because...

1. 5 (!) stereo tracks. They can be different lengths, say 4 bar drums on one, 16 bar chops on another, vocals on another, etc...
2. You can record effects as you sample into it, including a decent transpose (read: pitch), delay, lo-fi, lots of great SP style effects.
3. Much easier to operate by hand than floor based guitar pedal loopers.

Yeah, its a little pricey, but after years of playing with gear that 'almost' works for what you want, I've learned sometimes its better to invest in the next step up.
