sorry it's taken me a bit to set this up I really wasn't expecting to win so I didn't have anything in the back of my mind to upload
I don't have any funk or soul records so I did my my best to grab some weirdness out of some stuff I had lying around
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/g4flnbdyw931 ... KHYAn26H2a
rules:
1 - 1 SP
2 - if you have a 202 you can dub to tape just to get some form of loop bounce since [all?] others have resampling [if you don't have a tape deck [naughty naughty] you can bounce to DAW but no plugins or anything, cause with a single plugin you can make anything into really crazy shit. and no DAW chopping that's cheating.. flex that 202 son]
3 - I don't care what style you make or if you hate your own creation or not, HAVE FUN [bonus karma points for experimenting, maybe trying using an effect you don't really like in a weird way even if you don't wind up using the result]
the samples are [kind of?] weird, hope you guys like a challenge
at the very least you guys'll have some odd samples at the end of the day
edit: forgot a deadline, I guess a week so midnight by next Friday [6th]

Cool thx-looking forward to checking out the samples!
Side note- Interestingly the last couple of BB have been "1 box only" so I encourage people to try their hand at the resample challenges which usually only have a few entries and last a month. Very fun and challenging.

this is the first time from years that i see a rule that pay a bit attention to 202s, this is very important, i thought about it every time i see a battle here, sp202 heads had always a bit "snobbed" in that (including me when i won some battles in the past, sorry)
thanks MarcoGrouch

@OM yeah I definitely plan to participate in the resamples now that I've got a 404
@David man I hope you're enjoying the samples but don't injure yourself haha
@ella yeah I think people just don't understand the 202, I once saw a stipulation "202 heads can't use the pitch cause the other boxes don't have that" but that's about the only thing it actually does have.. and it was my first and only SP for a few months before grabbing the 404 so I 'get it' I guess
I still feel like doing songs on the 202 without tape bouncing is a good challenge but for complex beat battles not allowing 202 guys to tape bounce is a bit off [even though I'm usually too lazy personally to tape bounce and just play super simple micros hahahaha] that's like saying no resampling for anyone cause the 202 can't do it IMHO cause really it doesn't even give them any kind of huge advantage over anything else it's just giving it a [harder to use] resampling option like everyone else gets, don't feel salty cause you don't have 202 pitch cause that's about the only thing the 202 guy has to use

Dusted off the Roland MS-1 for this beat. I used a Zoom H2n to bounce back and forth with because the MS 1 is a pretty basic machine. Final product could of done with some eq'ing, oh well...
yes!!
this is the first time i hear a partecipation on a battle with an ms1, and i think this is the first one absolutely speaking (at least since i'm here, 2009,and at least on a "regular" battle -not challenges or other-)!!
cool

sick depressive depersonalization vibe Jade Badger
Commercial yours sounds like SP-Forums were in charge of making the Banjo Kazooie soundtrack, awesome
really glad to see some entries I was worried no one would bother due to the samples bein a bit goofy

If I don't drop this now I'm only going to have a million different versions of it and a special case of obsessive *composer disorder. I did have fun though.

Yo I've been working something out on my 404 for this one but I have a question before I actually record anything...Is it okay to record something basic and then add extra layers by overdubbing onto that recording with samples still coming from the SP or does it basically need to be a one shot recording straight from the SP? If I have a lot of little parts, I like to keep overdubbing over and over rather than resampling or using the sequencer (I'm lazy) but by "one box", I assume that's not cool. I just don't want to limit myself if I'm wrong. Hope I'm explaining myself clearly. Thanks.

One box is one box

, you would need to resample the parts together or use the sequencer. Good practice for resampling method. I did not like it at first but now I love it. I have also used the sequencer extensively but prefer the resample method by far for most tracks.
