analog or digital multitracker? Boss BR 1180 (2.0) ???

Yo, I need some advices...

I know it's been talked a lot about that but anyway...

I don't wanna use my computer for recording anymore cause I don't like it to work that way. I've used Cubase for multitracking but now some little voices in my head are telling me that I need a hardware-multitracker, and as usual I follow them...
I thought about a Boss 1180 (w/o CD-Burner)... it's not that expensive anymore.. (250€) Any expierences with that machine???
Does an digtal multitrack-recorder worth the money compared to a computer???
I like the feature to have an EQ, FX + COMP for each channel.. isn't that great...? I also thought about a Tascam tape-multitracker, but I think if I go that way I'll need an external equaliser and a compressor...?!
Can I use a (digital) multitracker as a mixer also?

Thanx for ya attention...

well i just use a zoom h2 BUT it doesn't give quite loud enough a recording IMO and that's just for two track get into my pc type shit. then again their is a lot to learn about that thing for me.
i feel like both ttascam and boss/roland offer good stuff but i would prolly go with boss if you want to keep it simple. though tascam is quality. cd burners inside of hardware are nice but these days its not like you have to have one, yeah.
don't overlook the zoom h4 cuz it is a portable 4track with xlr inputs.
nice beat on battle 16, props.

...but can I use a multitracker as a mixer also? Just to bypass the signals with some eq's?

It all depends on the multitracker... I have a TASCAM portastudio 4 track cassette recorder and it has EQ on it... No other effects (no compression, reverb etc) but it has basic EQs on it...

I was thinking of a BOSS BR 1180 (Version 2)? Is it possible to use it as mixer, so I can sell my fucked up Behringer???
