there is no auto chop on the st224 (like on 404 555 303 etc) everything is done by ears. one helping thing, like on the sps, is the mark button (the loop one, on the 224)...

ok maybe it's just a pad trouble, sometimes happens on very used 224, don't worry. normally they could start together due to polyphony (4 mono samples if i'm correct)

If you can't press both pads together at the same time making a pattern to resample is your only option. The only "auto sample" setting on the 224 is for the incoming volume threshold.

hey, i cannot say why you find difficulty...i just resampled two pads and the sounce mix simultaneously, without sequence nothing, and it works...

I think his problem is that he wants to resample 2 pads that are on different banks so you can't really trigger both using your fingers. If it was me, I'd just copy the sounds to the same bank or use the sequencer.

if i have to have it perfect, quantize into sequencer and resample

otherwise, try it live with multiple takes and keep the best
