Start/stop sampling via MIDI?

Anyone know if that can be done? I'm still learning MIDI. In the manual I just see start and stop operations but I'm assuming that's more to do with pads/patterns. It seems like if that sampling button had a MIDI number it would be easy. I have a MIDI foot pedal that's why I was asking. Then I could start/stop sampling via a foot pedal which could be handy

im not sure... but u can hook up your foot pedal to the back of the SP and sample through the loop capture.

Yeah I have the pedal but if I'm trying to sample anything longer than 15secs I'd have to go through the sampling feature and it would be nice to start/stop that via a pedal. And that function isn't listed under the pedal operations in the manual. Of course I can always just change the start/end points too.

Side question: Anyone recommend a better pedal than the roland dp-2? This thing is small and tends to scoot across the floor a bit.

I use a pedal for loop capture. There was no setting it up. I hit the Loop source to be external only and let my sequence run. Hit the pedal and loop capture/sampling starts, hit again and it stops. easy.

I'm using the Alesis pedal that came with my A6 so I'm sure any expression pedal would do.
