SP-FORUMS

I can't recall what happend on the last open challenge, would be fun to have one going along with the usual battles...

Saw kel's post on video game samples, might be fun to do one based on that...I'm kind of partial to older stuff, I was thinking Sega Genesis or Super NES samples? Could either be provided, or the creator picks and just shows what they used.

Say, Video game samples + drums (maybe a zip of one shots put here?) + 1 synth or bass guitar, something like that


Ideas?

I have Super C for nes, got pretty cool music and a sound test for drums maybe, but I'm sure somebody has something better

Seeing we've all got our own favourite games, how about we sample those & submit them as an SP-forums beat tape & get folks to vote on which beat's the bomb?

That way the unifying element could be everyone using the same drum sounds &/or one shots. The breaks you (Blav) posted here a while back were pure dope, if you've got the time can post us another 2 bars for the battle?

Either way, count me the fuck in on this one!

Alright awesome. I love the tape idea too.
Pulled some random drums I had from projects for the samples.

Rule #1 have to use SP, only 1 allowed
Rule #2: Use these homemade drums samples

Rule #3: Only video game samples, cannot be past 16 bit systems (ie, use gameboy, atari, snes, genesis, nes and back)
You can use several, don't have to cite them all but would be cool to know the main source(s).

I think we can leave out the bass or synths, plenty to sample on games

This is a good idea. I think that you should open a new thread for a new SP beat tape (we have done one about video games yet but it's ok) in the Freedom of Speech section, 'cause this is not a classic "open challenge". I hoped there were a real open challenge somewhere, but...
