can you plug this up via USB to your computer and stream music from iTunes/youtube/a daw ,etc. and record onto the ndx400 and loop it/add efx, etc?

or is the usb function only for choosing files, drag/drop, etc.?

The USB socket can only be used for plugging in a flash drive containing MP3s.

You can't record directly onto the player.

On your computer just drag all the MP3s you need onto the flash drive (it supports folders for organising stuff), stick it in the NDX and it's ready to go.
