turntable + phono in (no sound)

Im plugging my turntables red/white cables into my alesis interface PHONO IN, my sp 303 is coming out the speakers, but my turntable isnt. i've checked the manuals, and doing what they say, but still no sound from the turntable?
any idea what the problem could be?

your interface most likely does not have a phono input and your turntable most likely does not have a built in preamp.
you probably need a phono amp or a turntable with a built in preamp.
the behringer UFO-202 is a cheap usb interface that has a phono preamp too.
is it the alesis phonolink interface? if so, i don't know what the problem is

yeah man i got the ufo 202,it's usb for pc though..
depends whether you're hooking your equipment for transfer into pc/laptop
