I'm in. 404SX or 505...hmmmm...I think I'll go with 404.
[edit] I read the rules thread but let me make sure I got everything down...
1.) No other samples can be used other than those two.
2.) I cannot use time stretch in my machine.
3.) It's okay to 'master/eq' track with something other than SP as long as it's the final recording of the SP
Just making sure I got this proper.
[another edit]
Can we use the subsconic effect at all?

yeeeehawwwwww!
@hseiken, I don't know about the time stretch thing, I know some people don't have it so it's somewhat fair, but if the machine has it I don't see why not. I'm gonna let someone else step in to answer that. But the sample part, correct, this is what we got for this B-100. And the comp/EQ, I'm still mixed on that I have yet to see a totally clear answer.. I don't have a problem with it, but it can sure change the sound of a track so maybe to be fair keep it all in house? I'm gonna let someone else step in for that too.

i have the 505, do you mean using the pitch function? where it breaks the sound down and across the pads in multiple pitches? it's a handy feature but not one i use a lot with the battles, but hey it's a built in feature of the sp so i imagine it could be used. i'm not sure if that is the same as timestretch, probably not the same as mpc's at least. but if the new 404's have a sub-sonic effect that produces great bass, then i say use that 505 to it's fullest extent

Hey HS: 1, Correct 2, OK to use timestretch (because a few other SPs have it) 3, Correct. Subsonic's OK too (again, not just the 505 has it). Just keep it to one SP only for programming & sequencing.

[edit] Usually I'd say no to the 505's accurate pitch shift, but this time go for it. If its in an SP, use it.
Unless mods have the final say.

Just quoting the rules & history since several things are coming up (not that i'm an authority)
1. All SPs only SPs. all chops, all sequencing.
External mastering (E.Q., compression) is ok but don't rearrange anything . The exception to this is if any of the SPs have a useable time stretch feature that is disallowed to be fair to the ones that don't have it.
Juxt posts:
"you cant use more than one SP, unless you use one SP for mastering- (mastering by using the FX, no other kind of external editing). A few questions to be discussed is what the FX are limited to (if they are limited at all) , and can these FX be adjusted live"
"as far as i know every function on all the SPs can be used in battle
except the pitch function 505 cuz its noticably better than the other SPs(from what i heard)"
(somewhere else in that thread...)
"No D-beam on 555" - a HUGE loss, right

Obviously there has been some varying degrees of following this on battles (hell I thought you could use multiple SPs with FX but this is stricter) so let's just decide on how strict we want this one. I've stayed away from the 505 pitch on battles because of this limit but would not mind using it now
I also support external EQ/compression as it was originally allowed.

I already submitted my tune...I didn't realize the pitch functions weren't allowed...i use them for special effects and such...so I used that, and I also used time stretch. I also used PC for mastering.
If this is not okay, I will make another entry. Someone needs to take charge. When I submitted it to UF for collection, he didn't have problem with it, but if someone is going to step up and be official, please let me know. I was going by guidelines, but then I've heard they're not super strict. I guess it's so those extra abilities of other machines are not exploited?
hmmm....it's a bit confusing with so many SP's out there!

mmh I'm stuck with this sample at the moment, maybe I see this composition too good to damage it with my hands

, a few ideas but very similar to already existing beats with this sample I found.
This time I prefer listen yours beats, I think many dudes will do amazing beats here.
