i was looking at mixers to boost the signal and ground (the ground screw in the back of the 404 isnt half bad tho) my turntable into my 404, currently i have my eye on this one...

anyone have any advice about this?

Hmm that one actually seems pretty chill but I haven't been reviewing any of the new mixers lately so I don't know what to compare it to that's in the same range. I'd say just check it out side by side with some of the other mixers in it's range and see what you prefer. Size, layout (especially if you skratch), and quality are always gonna differ but you get what you pay for. The cheaper it is the crappier the crossfader probably is, so the less clean skratches will be, but if it's just sampling that doesn't matter much...

I saw this one has a built in bpm counter which could be kind of cool, and it got decent reviews for only being $10 more, could check it out...

Seems like the crossfader on this one doesn't get the best reviews... one said it died after weeks of having it and it started to bleed and the others seemed okay but still mentioned it dying off...it has 3band EQ tho so you can mess with that a little more before sampling.

The choice is yours, just go try some out and see what you think, especially if you're going to do skratching.

yeah, you might want something with a 3-band eq. gemini is generally kinda crap, but all the crap brands have stepped it up a bit in the past few years. i don't have a dj mixer anymore cause i just sample from the pt-01 directly into the 404. if i was gonna go with one of those cheaper brands though i'd probably go stanton or numark. i have a behringer xenyx 802 and the eq on that sounds really warm even when all 3 bands are boosted to max. the mid band on that adds a lot of snap/crack to snares

yeah I was lookin at that mixer, I have a stanton t52x would it boost the signal loud enough, plus what would I ground it to?

i would stick to dj mixers for your application. since my turntable is just a portable it doesn't need a signal boost or ground. so that 802 will probably not work for you. if you want cheap, go with a proper numark, stanton or behringer dj mixer

for sure thanks for the reply, i almost bought an used 802 for 30 bucks at guitar center but now glad i didnt

yeah, you'd probably get a signal going into the mono mic inputs, but not sure about the grounding. $30 is a good price though--they generally go around $60 new

ended up getting a numark m2 that im really happy with, thanks for the help

$60 seems a reasonable price.
