I was one of the original buyers who funded that bastard! Yep, I paid $3 grand when it first came out. I thought I was going to be the shizz...

But I was a sucker. It had a cool vibe, and was pretty cool for its time, but DAW's were doggin' it hard and it just went to see Jesus pretty quick.

For hardware peeps, I'm sure it's still got some cred...

the sp505 got a similar pitch scale function, it's the only sp doin this (and that's why i still keping it). but we all know what's happens while we timestretch on the sps...
this vp9000 it has a really superior sound quality, no doubt;
damn, this machine is great...

I had it for 3 months and was amazed by the quality of pitching and timestretching...it has the same(almost) engine of roland vsynth...
but I never really liked racksynths and sold it!
If anyone used the first versions of celemony melodyne software ,vp9000 is the cheapest hardware that anyone could get.Actually it had a software (vproducer) and for the time it came up when cpus where weak it rocked!If you use a computer you should definitely try melodyne.
To be honest ,if I could afford buying all the hardware I've tried I would absolutely keep it!Instead I use microsampler which has definitely inferior quality but the workflow is miles ahead...

I wouldn’t mind getting one someday if the price was right, but it probably has a bit of a learning curve, and I have other gear in mind before I’m even on the market for one.

if it has the same learning curve of the vsynth (i have one) it is really handy and easy...the sampling engine is nearly the same...who knows

I've heard that it does have the same as a Vsynth. I've had one for a few years now. When I have used it, indeed its great. About to redo the lab, heading back to my sampling roots. Will play more of a role afterwards. Been a minute since posting on the forum. Whassup Fam.

So it’s a sampler that has a synth engine? Or a synth engine that can sample?? Either or, now I’m really wondering what it does that the SPs don’t.

it's a sampler, it has a synth structure (adsr, filters etc) as the older samplers in the 90s
it can sample
it sounds very nice in therms of timestretching
