Dude, I'm a professional musician for 20+ yrs (drums, bass, guitar, percussion) with countless studio hours. Rocking the SP for fun ONLY with no expectations.
The reason why drum machines and subsequently sequencers were invented in the first place is to cut down studio time, because no drummer is that good to record it as fast as you can sequence it somewhere. Also the incredible amounts of time required to set the kit, then mics, then look for sweet spot, then record the pilot, then everything else.
Just because you feel it's easier it really doesn't mean it is.
Or do you honestly think you're that good in keeping groove/time? Have you ever tried resampling the entire drum track? Not boom-klack, kick snare combo take of three seconds? Have you ever sequenced odd times? 5/4, 7/8, 9/8?
No?
Thought so.
And long story short - resampling and keeping the groove is Harder. Any moron can sequence, just look at Zen Cum
i dont see what being a "professional" for 20yrs has anything to do with resampling vs sampling but i've made plenty of albums "for fun" on just sp303 resampling only with sampled drums and me playing the piano so i think im passable.

either way, you do you bro. i'm not knocking your methods. just saying its asinine to debate sampling vs resampling and thinking it makes you better one way or the other. its low hanging fruit. if you think you're a greater and better "artist" for doing resampling only, you are just fooling yourself.

also playing odd time signatures isn't a flex. same with "20+yrs". I could tell people i've been playing the paino for around 20 yrs but that doesn't mean im a virtuoso on the keys.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RruekP1RcAU i made this 9yrs ago when i was learning how to resample on the sp303

Yeah, it's an asinine debate.
Being proffesional musician means that you have experience with both sequencing and recording live.
And I wasn't "proffesional". Don't know what you mean by that. If you want to i can send you my bands names, albums, live DVD links and bios, so you'll see it wasn't for fun.

This, SP forum, this is for fun. I don't even like hip hop that much, more of a trip hop guy tbh

With the risk of sounding like bragging, but I was among top 3 bassists in my country.

this^

also, i never claimed anyone who used resample method was "inferior" in any way like you claim resampling is superior

which is the way you were trying to frame it when talking to yourself with your alt in this thread lmfao

explaining my own personal preference for using pattern sequencer has nothing to do with anyone else's preferences, and explaining the history of digital sampler capability is just objective facts (and if you take offense to those facts, you're clearly the person with the issue)

anyways, whatever you have to tell yourself to sleep at night

i'ma work on fixing my turntable now

being a top 3 bassist or musician does not make you a top 3 producer. same with being an amazing producer doesn't make you a top tier musician.

im talking about claiming to be top 3 bassist really means nothing to me or to this discussion. but w/e bro, im not doubting that you're a beast on the bass.

my original response to sp-user was saying its just stupid to think the resampling method somehow makes a person better musician or superior in the craft. that's just straight up false.

enjoy your weekend.

also send me some of your real work in a dm. i'm always looking for new and diff shit to check out.

I was only mentioning it because it felt like you think I'm lying , and I do take my pride in my music career - this, SP 404SX, resampling, and shit - this is for kids. This is a fckn toy, any proffesional knows it, and that's why I don't even take it seriously, and have Never released any of my SP beats.
It's child's play, I wouldn't be caught using SP in a music studio even dead.

To me, anyone who can keep a groove and record live finger drumming , but the entire complex take is three light years away from bacterial slime like ZenCum who is in fact sequencing because HE SUCKS AT KEEPING THE GROOVE AND TIME A

He also sucks bags of dicks as well, but it's a known fact

You're not set for DM, or am I wrong?
Will send it to you gladly, listen, chop, do whatever you feel like.
Had a ska band as a youngster, then classic - fusion, jazz rock, alter, reggae, and just a month ago I released an album with a band that's more club/hip hop like, so you might find that one the most compelling

(Though the jazz-rock band was my all time favourite tbh)

Peace

I really don't have to tell them. It has nothing to do with hip hop, that's not the only music around, you know? Proper music studio would laugh at you for bringing an SP.
And those guys certainly didn't use just the SP, troglodyte

Grow some balls kid.
