I might pick up this joint today.
I don't want to use resample to make beats and i'm sick of the 404's sequencer. I can use this and extract the files from the SD card onto my CPU for further processing.

It’s definitely on the to get list, check eBay there always on there for a steal.

I went in the store to get the R8 and came out with a mic pre for $99

I use this for the adat connectivity and combine it with my apollo twin duo. then i can use the tubes from the pre and UA's mic pre emulations for some tone blending.

To buy or not to buy?

I bought a Zoom R16 about 3 years ago (used). I loved it. But unfortunately 1 by 1 the inputs went fuzzy. I really want to get it working again. Multi-track recorders are great for hardware only set ups, especially when you want to combine multiple pieces of gear.

With the R16 I had 8 mono inputs (4 stereo inputs), I used it everyday until it stopped working.

If I remember correctly the R8 has 4 inputs (4 mono or 2 stereo). If you're trying to avoid the computer I think the R8 would come in handy.

I thought mostly about it's sampling and resampling cappabilities, not just as a multitrack. I have Casette multitrack...
