Damn, doesn't look like I'll be able to participate in this one. I love the Duke Ellington sample, though, I even own the soundtrack with Grace Valse in it.
Checked out some of the entries and they're all pretty good.
Good luck, guys.

Here's my beat.
I thought of it as tuning thru radio stations in my dreams.
http://www.box.net/shared/cidtpdlbbxI used my 303 and my Roland vs 880 to record it and some drums from reason.
I wish I could of added some bass lines but I ran out of space on my 303

hi
this is "
caffè, tabacco & lieto di averti visto" (
coffee, tobacco and glad to have seen you)
sp-303 + drums/bass sequenced from yamaha an200 and sampled in the sp-303.
...the end of track has a little surprise.

The VS 880 Is just a regular 8 track recorder. You have to update the OS for it to burn CD's tho.

pounds to all!
man I hope more people get in on this.
))))))ALSO((((((((((((
I think it would be cool if there was a section on this page that had all the tracks from the battles cataloged into albums like the mixtape page but like a page of stuff from the open challenge and battles.
wachall think?

@ ellaguru, i really like this one man. love how the piano comes in dirty drums, and sick bassline.
@ ormo, great idea of archiving the battles/open challenges. every individual has a unique take on the samples, which is a beautiful thing. btw your track was heavy man i really enjoyed it a lot. from this track and your last one from 55, you totally take your listener on a journey.
