To be honest I never got around to using the QY100 and sold it when my iPhone broke (needed to replace it). I never doubted what the QY could do. It would certainly make a great sequencer for the SP samplers. I just have a roland mc307 that I use to sequence the 404 instead making the QY almost redundant.
- The sequencer is rock solid.
- The internal sounds are not great and not bad. You could definitely do something creative with them and a sampler.
- Smartmedia card for backing up sequences.
Buy it for $150 or less. I would not pay much more.

Hi Ive used the qy 70 for many years in bands, theatre and solo album projects.
its a great device for quick and creative songwritng and ive decided rto go back to using mine instead of getting over whelmed with the world of logic and cubase etc.
troble is ive started up my QY and ttheres no sound.
all is working as before fater installinga new internal battery, but no audio out put at all.
any ideas?
im sure the machine is fine, its just the sound.
i have an old qy that was trodden on during a show, and the screeni s smashed, yet all the sounds are audible, so its unusual fot the audio to disappear.

I am thinking about buying either one of these or a QY100. Any more to say about these?

Got a QY70 on ebay.
The portable rig I am putting together with it is:
Yamaha QY70

Roland SP-404sx

Tascam DP-008

Shure SM-57

Headphones - I've got some Beyerdynamic phones that cost $55.
Everything will run on batteries and has a small footprint. Nothing wildly expensive.
More focused on composition/demos than super high quality recording. I can come up with a pretty great variety of sounds with the Qy70....use them directly...or sample and process on the sp.....8 tracks to play with....and I can record guitars and vocals too.
