This is something I've barely gotten a hold of but...

If you use the DJFX on a sample / beat you can slow it down but still have it be automatically chopped up to keep the same tempo. Use the second knob to set the speed of the sample and the first knob to adjust how it'll be chopped. It's VERY tricky to do though.

i'm doing it now, and also using the Ctrl 2 knob to cut the sound up by adjusting the End point

yeah, i've messed w/ that cntrl 2 knob, but never in a 'live mix' sort of setting. pretty cool effect tho.

the only negatron with this is that I find if I have some FX running and I get confused (often the case) I end up throwing effects onto the pad without meaning to.

so sad.

well this is not new & i don't know if it's been posted & prolly yall do this, but for single drum hits i sample air off the begining of a record and resample it under a kick & snare just so it does not sound too choppy but more fluid..

Anyways I figured something out lately:
If you have a loop(s) set it(them) to adjust to the patterns bpm (select the sample, press time/bpm and turn the left knob all the way to the right)
then play your pattern and adjust the bpm of it in real time...

Now you can fuck with the speed of your beat while it's playing! It's fun when used live.

Some cats may know this already but a quick alternative to using the pitch control is running the sample through the djfx. First turn ctrl 3 til it is "off", Then turn ctrl 1 all the way to the right, Now you can adjust the pitch using the ctrl 2 knob from 0.0-1.0. I find it quick and easy to use when i just need to lower an octave.

dunno who all does the whole make-a-pattern-on-Juno-G thing, then samples that, but it can become difficult to make a loop perfect. Especially if your pattern features lots of long-release sounds. Of course you can avoid those, but what's the fun in that? You can either make two (or more) samples (one to start it, one to loop and/or end), or just record the one to loop and use the isolator to cover up your laziness.

Works for me quite well.

Also, the delay effect will cover up a bad loop sometimes.

Oh, and while we talk of recording from a keyboard, that blinking blue light is your friend. When you go to record a sample, set your tempo with the Time/Bpm button, then watch for the light. Makes it a lot easier to record straight off a keyboard or drum machine.

Maybe this isn't the most useful post ever, but who knows, maybe another newbie such as myself can find use in it.

ok ok i got one. the bpm is pretty right on if you time it well (i.e. 1 bar/4beats/etc...). so what i do is use pattern function, double the bpm on pattern mode and take off gate and loop. then you can stick one bar as one bar, two bars into a two bar pattern, you get the picture; this way you can loop several different parts and get in and out of pattern mode to add random stuff. this helps me alot cuz i can't really get a beat i like out of this like i can with the mpc, but that's really cuz of inexperiance. i guess most already know this though.

ok, I figured out a cool one im sure some1 has already figured out but I didnt see it here. Having trouble syncing your delay to your pattern bpm ? well... resample the sample u want to be delayed dry and let it record a few seconds of extra air. Then adjust the endpoint until the SP tells u its the same tempo as your sequence. Then add your delay and there you have it ! right on beat.
