Well, again, I'm of the opinion that the more a machine can do, the crapper the tunes. DJ Shadow, MPC60 - Endtroducing; MPC3k - Psyence Fiction; Ableton...what was his last one called? Who cares!!! And one of my fave youtube geezers, Peter Simpkin, just went from killing it with a 60 and S950 to making meh with Ableton recently too. Take even Burial, who has always used a pooter...when he went from using the super-limited SoundForge to whatever he uses now (probs Ableton), he went to shit. And, at the risk of alienating literally everyone on here, and with all due respect coz you know you're my homie...the stuff you were doing with the 404OG was far better, imo.
It's a cliche these days of course but limitations focus the mind in all the right ways and janky workflows give time to reflect, coz you have to mean everything you do.

As I say, I think Roland tried to squash something to compete with the MPC1 into an SP form factor. If they didn;t have to worry about the SP lineage for marketing, I reckon they would've done something different with it.

Yeah! I hear what youre saying!! The limitations do breed creativity! Ive never really used the SP thinking right im gonna make some innovative and great beats, its definitely something just for hobby and the pleasure of the process!I havent noticed the stuff Ive done on the mk2 as any different though, it just means i can pitch stuff properly and quicker without tricks like using the djfx to pitch down. I think whatever you use isnt really an issue as long as its enjoyable! I get what youre saying about using software stuff though when its an SP and not a whatever you want forum!
I do sometimes think how I made a lot more music when i was just using a guitar and drum machine and the music made usingthat felt less generic even though it was a very basic set up! I think as long as this forum is fun, friendly and interesting then people will want to keep it active!

sidenote 2 i hate the way the mk2 sounds (48khz lameness) in my hands compared to the older machines thats why i need to work with other machinese besides it to atleast make it sound alright

I dunno what y'all talkin' about. Most 404/SX/A SPs are around £200 here; 202s £100 - £200, and even 4mb cards are now down to around £50. Which all seems reasonable to me. Only 303s are more like £300, coz, y'know, Dilla or whatever...

Bounced with another HIV/STD to Master & Mixdown.
Where i also recorded my microkorg to lay the bass.
Also used my boss his daughter to lay down some vocals.
