heres a couple conspiracy threories i came up with because i started drinking again, not hard core just a few sips.

maybe the unit worked when he sold it to you. or he thought it worked and it got blasted with cosmic rays from space on the way from his place to yours, it happened to me with my asr on the bus, and I had to take the ram out to even use it. it happened to my 555 when i drove past an electric water turbine generator, it fried the memoery and I had to reinstall the os.

I know im just being silly but heres another conspiracy, Maybe he signed up for this forum recently and sees us talking about him., haha it just happened to me today, we were sitting in our chat room on our site kinda talking shit about someone and he came in and saw everything we were saying. haha sorry, just tryin to be funny.

There's not much to find funny about getting ripped off on equipment that doesn't work unfortunately. But once they've taken your cash and you the busted item, you're the one who has to feel like you wasted your money. It's right up there with getting robbed as well.

as sad and stupid as it may sound i am over it. losing the cash sucks and getting a broken unit sucks but fuckit that guy has more shit coming to him than he knows about. i thought about making a video of 10 things to use a 555 for other than making beats on. anchor, grappling hook, litter box liner, frisbee, etc. i thought about trying to sell it as is with FULL DISCLOSURE (unlike i got), i thought about scams on retailers (the karma or looming karma would kill me), but i think i decided to keep it. i am going to try and set it up sound card style running my shit to the computer, although i havent really looked into what i can do or what would work for me. half the pads work per bank, its limited but will work for SOME things. i can do resample stuff from my esx and use effects and bounce back and forth. if it works as a sound card i will get use out of it.. i donno. that one post got me thinking maybe i should try the OS.

if someone has some use for it i would trade. maybe even for cash from my end depending on what we were talking about.

scream 2 is on the tv and jennifer love hewitt has the most amazing sweater pillows in this movie.

something similar happened to me too (no jizz related indeed :) ), but one day i bought an sp606 from a used thing store, after just 1 hour of trial it was completely mess up, there were written something like memory or midi error, it didn't play or nothing.
fortunately i get back the same day at that shop and they gave my money back...
...after a week i returned back to see that shop again and they had repared the 606 trouble -maybe reinitializing the system- , so i bought it at a lower price.

I have the same button problem from buying a used one on eBay (unfortunately AS-IS, so I don't think Paypal will pursue a refund on my behalf).

I love the effects but having half the pads is a bummer especially with the weird triggering problem.

Since my unit has this problem too, I think it may be just duds from the factory. My used unit had one owner and he said this problem always happened while triggering by MIDI. However, SPs are known for pads and knobs needing repairs, so it could be that too.

Most likely will used as an audio interface, effects processor, and looper with a button workaround.

I hear about too many craigslist deals in parking lots. Stores do exist. Had a dude bring an mv to a dunkin donuts. And a guy sold me an mpc but he had it hooked up to his truck so i could bang it in his front seat to make sure it worked. Never buy used shit without trying it. You wouldnt accept ig box from the dude if he said the sp was in it. You would look in the box first. I usually tell em to mee somewhere with electricity so i can play with it for at least 5 mins. You kinda feel the person out online, if they are like, nah, im in a hurry, fuck em...

I agree, but eBay has deals for people that like DIY (do it yourself) repairs. Seller listed the SP-555 problem in the ad and I thought I would be able to repair it by re-initializing. I was wrong! :( I didn't pay that much for it. 250. So, I figure for its other uses it's worth it (...like it's the ultimate effects unit!).

I rehabilitated a MC-505 (lcd display), MC-303 (bad buttons), without much training except online videos.

If you are buying gear on eBay make sure the seller has good feedback in terms of packing. I tend to buy from musicians that take good care with packing their items. I had to repair the MC-303 button since the seller packed it with the AC adapter loose with padding which wound up bouncing around and destroying the button!
