i've jus been loading whole beats in to the 404, again grouping with similar tempos and using skits/one shots/effects to keep things moving. would love to take my mac and launchpad out the house but for the same reasons as bridge, im not!! ipad seems very intersting, will look at that.

my mate did a gig a while back and this drunk girl split vodka redbull all over a 1210, killed the table!

If you listen to Teebs set (using ONLY the 404) he really isn't matching beats except for the second, third and fourth songs which can be debated as to how he mixed them, he could of "rendered" them together before hand then imported them as one song onto one pad. Either way if you guys haven't listened to this show, it's amazing.

If you listen to this Samiyam mix he just seems to TAPE ECHO out of each song. But thats the freedom you have i guess with beat music; it's not like they're mixing house records.

If you render your whole set and put it on a pad on say your last bank. You could hit the pad and then switch banks and just let it run You sould just have to be REALLLY careful not to go back to that bank and hit the pad. Nothingless, it's a good investment! New Os coming this month with multitask too!

I've seen some dudes in the Bay Area play live sets mashed out entirely on an SP. Must be some drummers because they were on point the whole time.

What about the double 404 setup? Either with a basic dj mixer or one RCA'ed into the other? SPA plays whole tracks or large track chunks and SPB plays one shots and handles effects? Would still be cheaper than a laptop.

OT but I know Peter Digital Orchestra performs live with two MPC2k's, ill live set.

KOMSAT, thanks for pointing out Peter Digital Orchestra, good stuff. On the subject of live sets, could always run BM on an iPod Touch or iPhone through an SP for effects. Cheaper than an iPad, but much easier to screw up on.

Edit: Fulgeance is PDO! Wow, I feel pathetic that I didn't realize that before, nonetheless a great artist. Ish goes hard.

man, i'm preparing a show with a dj (http://www.myspace.com/berlinlille) for jannuary and just yesterday he made me listen a track of him on a 45vinyl(!), i didn't knew him (is he french?). cool electronic sounds. i think the dj will put that 45 on the show.
thanx to this thread , very inspirational for "making order" in my set up. i think i will use an sp606+kp2 (+st224 or sp505 for transitions and improv).

Yah PDO/Fulgeance is French. He makes most of his tracks with a DAW but tracks out different bits to his MPC 2K's for a live shows. SPs could easily be subbed for the MPCs.

Take some video of your practice sessions, I'm curious to see how you're going to work it all out! Excitement.

I think the questuon lies in whether you are/want to be a dj or not, im definatly not a dj. more of an artist showcasing with added extras than anything else. for what i do, and for what i want to do, ipad and 404 is ideal with so many possibilites and thats before we even get down to portability.

think of it like a painter/sculpture or even video maker showcasing there work, except you can get smashed and dance around like a d!ckhead.
