i must say that if one day i finish to build a sort of studio/room more definitve than the squat i got for now, well , i think that i would like to try to sell my mpc1000 to buy the MV8000 or 8800. i still ignore what are the main differences between the 2 models but they intriguing me. it's just a question of space/money that blocked me to buy those and even the mpc 2000xl/4000 (and the ensoniq asr-x or the yamaha su700 too, let's say it).

me neither but its amazing what that box does..and im very tempted to sell some gear for it...(sample selection by knobs!!!) and they include a very very high quality drum sample set in the gigs proportion that basically gets you covered for life.

To tell you the truth, I'm feeling comfortable with my current gear and basically do not even know that much about the Maschine and haven't dug into it yet. Yeah, I've seen YouTube movies and such, but I haven't touched it in real life yet in a store.

Talking about stores.. I haven't seen it yet in the bigger stores here. Quite odd. Guess the bad economy makes it less tempting for people to jump on new gear. I bet the Beat Kangz' Thang has a similar issue when it gets released.

I had a mpc1000 and hated it sold it and got
the 404 and the 303. The maschine is also sweet it's crazy easy to load samples to pads. Chopping shit up is a breeze as well. As far as hooking it to a pc save yourself the headaches and buy a mac. You don't even need to touch your computer just the controller if you want I never use anything but the controller. Just my opinion but this thing kills anything that akai puts out.

did you had the 1000 "normal" or the black one? anyway he 303 and the 404 are truly good machines but different from the 1000.

i don't know, but it seems a little bit exaggereted this. have you ever tried other akai products? i mean the mpc2000xl, the 4000, the s20, the remix 16...

I wonder if those pads are as comfortable as on other samplers.

Hey are about the same as the mpc and they are
velocity sensitive.

personally i found the mpc500 pads hard as hell...the mpc1000 black pads "regular"...everyone says that the best mpc pads are their of 2000xl or 3000.
to wich model you make your comparison?

Yes, the 606 pads are amongst my favorites as well. Incredibly responsive!

I like the MV pads too, but I had to really get used to them. It takes a lot more pounding the pads to get a good responsive trigger of the sounds. (PS. Roland, please make future pads more sensitive, so you can play them without smacking them like crazy. )

The mashine looked ill until i seen that it was made by NI. Just from personal experience that company sucks. They put out products that have such good potential and then dont update on the parts that seriously need updating. As for the mpc1k, I have had both the blue & the black version. Both times i ended up returning/selling it because I could not find my creativity on the equipment. When I purchased the 404, BAM...Creativity all day. that is just my personal experience/opinion. If you have those things and like them great. Do you and what makes you happy.

Yeah, this seems to be confirmed by early adopters of the Maschine as well, the software dependence with this company also means unsolved bugs and annoying bugs that for some strange reason seem to end up last on their bug-fix priority list.

i had the mpc500 and soonly i sell it to buy the 1000black. i don't use it very often, but technically speaking it has the best editing way i found until now on a sampler ( i didnt try the MVs still...). but, attention, this doesn't means that this is The Best Way for everybody. and, like that, i sold also my sp-404 , wich i found great on paper, but not good (midi bugs, didnt like the pads and the quantizing) for me.

Yeah, you're right. It's quite pointless to bother too much going into gear discussions about what's actually better or worse, as more often than not people will use equipment they are most comfortable with.

Saying the MV is better than an MPC1000 to some extent doesn't make sense anyways, as they are like apples and oranges.

In the end, both can be used as excellent tools to create music, which is of course what we want.

Sometimes people are talking bad about gear they don't even own themselves though, which is a bit sad of course.

As stated in my post those are my experiences and opinions. NI and there software issues are terrible, and I could not get into a groove with the mpc no matter how hard I tried. To each his own.

I've messed around with one Saturday and I must say, it's indeed quite annoying. Perhaps I'm just too used to other gear, but it's not my kind of piece. The software, which should have been streamlined all the way, is not at all very straight forward.

Ultimately it works, but the work flow really isn't that much faster than what I've got now, meaning for me personally and my mini-studio it's added value is pretty much near zero.
