thiking about getting a rm1x but still not decided yet, I think I'd rather get a 303 to complement my 404.

what I wanna do is, jam the samples on my 404 and sampling them on the 303 to get the sound, that way I don't get limited resampling voice, I get a sick compressor and effects and.... well yeah that's it.

Actually I was wondering if I should sample stuff in the 303 first then sample the chop in the 404, would it retain the 303 sound kind of? (since the 404 can't really expend then sound the 303 just "destroyed")...

oohh and a metronome also.

Ableton Live 8 all day. I been using all the sp's and MPC's for years and just sick of the shit. Axiom 25 usb MIDI with 8 mpc style drum pads on the top. Can make 5 beats in the time it takes me to make one with hardware.

I've got an RM1x in great shape that I'd like to sell. I used to use it as a sequencer for my ASR-x.

Sampling from one sampler to another just to get some "sound" just seems like a waste of time

You just don't get it, Dorkus. Half of us on here have been down the software route and still use software. The SP's have limitations, so there is a different workflow to the music creation. There is a different thought process involved in having every tool at your disposal vs pushing the limits of the tools you were dealt, which for many of us leads to its own inspiration and unique sound. I get more "happy little accidents" out of the SP's than I do with software.

Trust me, man, I get it. I am well aware of the differences in workflow and have had plenty of "happy little accidents" from using the sp's(I have a 202,303,505,606,555) for the past 12 years. I was simply stating that I prefer Ableton.

Ive had all but the 505 and 606 (I see you never had a 404). I just don't get the "this or that" mentality. If anything, it would be good to use them hand in hand as there are things you can do on the SP's that are harder in Ableton. Hell, the SP-555 would be a good match in the fact it doubles as a soundcard. Back and forth, no problem.

No, never had a 404, never even touched one. I've used my 555 along with software before and yes they work well together. It's not like I'm all this or that like it's a strict rule I go by. I just personally prefer working with Ableton alone as I get the results I want. I especially the sequencer, which is why I posted in response to the topic.

I just bought some new recorder and I have this crazy idea of actually playing the whole song live, without using any sequencer, just sp and my recorder. Its gonna sound random often but I guess thats not the bad thing these days.
peace to the sp ninjas
