I started in 2000 using software. But my hardware experience started a few years ago like this:

2005 - TT's + Mixer
2006 - SP-404
2007 - SP-505
2008 - MPC1000

+ when dad moved out he left me his old Yamaha PSS.

Like you see I went from cheaper to more expensive and feature richer samplers. This is good way because now I don't have to limit my creativity using limited samplers. I can do whatever I want on any of these samplers.

My list is about the same as fauna's minus the 4-track.

My first hardware sampler was the SP-555. I really couldn't decide between a MPC1000, SP-606 and SP-555, but because I couldn't afford an MPC1000 and couldn't find an SP-606 in a store anywhere, I bought the SP-555 first.

I got lucky a few months later though and bought the SP-606 second hand for even less than my SP-555. I never regretted buying either of them.

lol, word, it took me a while to get my set-up going, hence why i got mines around 92-93... the cross-fader was not nice for scratching, even radio shack came out with a similar version...
