404 since it has battery power which makes its portable and has a built in mic.
202 was battery powered as well and has a dirtier sound because the a/d conversion was 20 bit. Which is cool for alot of people BUT the type of memory card it used was only capable of a 4mb Smart Media card, which are a bit more difficult to come by now. It also has a built-in mic.

Oh your talking about the Loop Capture function, Yeah that thing is fun once you have a foot switch connected to it.
yeah i need a foot switch for my 555 hope santa brings it lolz yeah right.
Just FYI for u guys in case some of you didnt know.
Everyone always asks me about re-sampling a " Pattern " from the sequencer but none of the SP's allow you to do that
BUT
The SP-555 actually can ! Just use the Loop Capture, set it to 2 or 4 bars, set the source select to EXT & PADS and press the AUTO START button.

Here we go again . Wasnt a pitch , just a helpful tip for some SP users who may be new to the 555 , since i get asked this question alot and we were talking about the 555 and loop capture with a DAW.
Your a real genius , your intellect shines thru here , im sure you get mucho props for that all day.

all sp's are sweet little boxes whatever model it is.
my favourite being the 303 because to me its got the perfect balance of necessary features. i also got a 404 and it falls into that category too, but i really dont like the pads on that one.
being playing with a friends 505 for a few months and again, its mad, but i find it does feel like im sometimes playing with an 'mpc-lite'. cant explain really.
im pretty loyal to the sp line, that if the new model just had standard ancient technologies like an adsr and pitch control. id probably buy 3....

Mmm, the 555 is great, but I am definitely hoping for a direct 606 successor.
I wouldn't mind a 777 with a screen though, it would be cool to have a new SP for live performances.
