The difference between Soundcloud and spotify is that when you create a soundcloud account (a free account, not a premium account) you aren't collecting royalties. People are basically listening to your music for free. the moment you decide to collect royalties, legalities play more of a factor. This is why I prefer using band camp to showcase my catalogue.

I remembered this this morning yeah, its a valid point.

Well i'm sure they had rules and regulations to cover their end. But you aren't forced to click an agree button to use their platform. You HAVE TO agree to those terms with soundcloud premium or spotify or apple music. Otherwise band camp could get sued as well. You can still get in trouble for uploading sampled material on band camp too. Anyway you can get paid and dodge these legalities the better. Labels and the law work together to try to widen the gap for us up and comers and those who have record deals.
