Well the tech guy might be right in that the hardware will support 64bit , but if you don't install a 64bit operating system on it like Vista Premium 64bit, then it won't use the 64bit functionality so to speak...
In other words, you'll need a 64bit OS, but it's not required for the PC to work, it will run great on a 32bit OS as that's the current standard still.
