"Rec-Rec — There are four Rec-Rec. They swim repeatedly from the right side of the screen to the left, and loop back around. Tap one of the Rec-Rec to make it eat four seconds of sound (coming in from the DS' microphone) on the next loop. Rec-Rec play the sounds they have eaten in a loop. Pressing right or left increases or decreases the speed at which the Rec-Rec swim and play their sounds. Pressing up or down changes the background beat. Pressing Select empties all of the Rec-Rec at once."

got my ds-10 yesterday and i have only had a bit to play with it but it is not really a toy. it has more functions than a lot of pro gear and is pretty evil sounding too. i would imagine that this could easily be as good as a kaossalitor. anyway this is what it does:

~four part drum sequencer
~dual synth sequencer
~dual oscilators
~all sounds are programmable and savable
~18 songs
~16 patterns each (i think)
~each pattern is 16 clicks
~programmable kaoss pad (i think you can have different settings for each synth, but NO kaoss pad for the drums).
~you can run multiple ds running this soft to create numerous voices.
~i read that this can be open-sourced to run midi on pc soft via wi-fi but i can't confirm this.

my overall impression is that this is great. if you have a basic sampler and want something to spice up your tracks you can't get anything better for the price.

complaints: the touch screen implementation is a little hard to control. the desired sounds might take a while to find. it does sound like a video game occasionally (BUT not in the way you might imagine, just a little robotic; basicly like any linear sequencer).

i thought 'twinge' was crap. i did another song called 'xenix', again i did it all on the ds-10 (it's not that much better, at least i don't feel like it's crap).
after playing with this program i feel it is best suited to techno styled music. it would also be good for bleep bloop music. not really suited for pads but it could be done. one issue i have is that fx changes effect all patterns on a scene. also there are slight glitches. for instance if i use the patch and change a sound but i don't like it, i can unpatch; however it doesn't always take.

Ha! He had to put the glasses on. Could be useful. My guess is that it would work with anything that makes sound and has relatively small speakers.

this guy has the R4 cartridge, those little tiny mem sticks fit into the cartridge and you fill the memory stick up with files from the internet, that korg program is out online, the r4 thing cost like 60 bucks i think, but its worth it if have a ds youll never buy a game again

recommended this "game" to the owner of the business I work at for his roadtrip... needless to say he came back with a big grin on his face and a couple nice little beats he made.

i had a chance to mess with it a bit and its a great time killer if nothing else...

i give it two thumbs up.

This is probably the best DS cartridge that you could buy. You can put movies, games, books, and music on it. And it has a microSD slot for memory expansion.

I have a ds with the r4 chip and I have all the music homebrew apps and the korg ds10. The ds10 is fucking awesome beyond belief. I've been trying a real minimal setup with my 606 and ds with just synth sequences from the ds10 and it sounds sooo good. I even use it when recording into ableton. Im in the market for an actual synth, but the ds10 is actually a real good (and very portable) va synth to use. Plus if you're tired of playing music on it you can just play mario.

I've tried all the DS stuff out. It was fun to fuck around with for a while but ultimately just that. You cats are sleepin on this shit though...

i can testify that pspseq is on some other ish, still trying to wrap my head around it...if you have a hacked psp, or can get your hacked i would highly recommend it
