First off, some really tight submissions this week.
I personally really appreciate the less restrictive rules and the varied sample material...
Onto the feedback:
timmytoga (me) - Thanks for the feedback. Personally I think I compressed the life out of a lot of my sounds so that's something I'd do differently. Also it I gave zero thought into like structure so I need to work on that.
rak - I really like this beat yo... The drums all bang, the effects are on point, not overdone. The drum pattern is tight... got the right repetition. The melody kind of lends itself to like a depressing vibe which I'm down with for sure. Really like this submission. Also we both had baby scratches lol. That snare is eww
RockySullivan - A similar submission and vibe to the one above. Drums sound good. I like the sparce DJFX on the drums doe. Feels like it's missing a little zest but it's a worthy submission.
Chopperman - Pretty minimal vibe here. I dig that ambient ringing shit, pretty tight. Drums feel a little stiff for this vibe. I really dig the second part of this beat though. The delay makes it hella syncopated like a drum n bass shit. Second half is tightttt.
l i f - Dynamics got a little squashed here but.. I love that repetitive vocal loop in the background. I don't really care about the synth loop as much. Drums are rough. Want to hear more dynamics. I did the same thing on my beat... squashed the dynamics right out with my compressor lol. Creative use of the various samples and bringing em all together.
Sleepsnumb - Pretty gnarly lofi minimal vibe here... again with the synth loop - not really into it but that Burial minimal sounding drum type stuff is beautiful. And the dreamy radio quality shit in the background. Dope. Nice work.
janglesoul - This synth loop makin me sleepy doe. Different vibe here. Not much to say here.
parker jordan - Lofi slop. I appreciate the uptempo vibe and use of sample chops.
Alnitak Kid - House track - different. Different take on the whole thing. Pretty tight. I like the 808 toms.
Like I said, some nice submissions. I'm gonna vote for rak because he came in with the hip-hoppy vibe on some downtempo shit. A lot of people just used that depressing synth loop which I was not feelin but rak flipped it and pitched it so i dig it, ya dig?
Rak gets my vote.
