just a question why would you buy a padkontrol and an sp404 when it costs more than an SP555 which has 16 velovity sensitive (though still small) pads? Im thinking about this SP404+PK+QY100 setup or SP555+QY1000 aswell.

well, the 555 is alot bigger than the 404, and isn't capable of being battery powered.
and the padKontrol can be used as a MIDI controller for all my hardware, not just the 404 (and has better MIDI functionality than the 555 which really wasn't designed as a MIDI controller, but does have the precious MIDI Out that the 404 lacks)

i like the modular approach, but also when i bought my 404 the 555 wasn't around yet.

for your decision, i guess you have to weigh up the relative benefits of the 404/555, and also consider whether you want a dedicated MIDI pad controller or just use the 555

I knew all that, and the Midi out could seal the deal for me. I already have an MPD16 but I hate the pads, it's like you're just hitting the plastic casing. Hmm, the SP555 has some cool looking things that'd be alright live like using the d beam as a filter or synth. I've had no experience with an SP so can someone point me in the right direction in the way of SPs..?
