Any culture is full of posers who pull whack moves and shit. The beat culture is no exception. Keep your interactions limited to those who you respect and ignore the rest. My pet peeve in this forum is people who straight up ask for samples, that shit is a joke. Half the skill and art of beat making is the dig, and anyone who bypasses that step is weak.

Tis' true that asking for samples is a sign of a beginner, but without anything to work with to learn the process, I can see how providing very popular, not obscure samples would benefit the learning process before they start the search for their own sound.

As for the OP...Soundcloud is lame IMO. Facebook I could go either way. Twitter I use for other purposes, not for trying to get a bunch of 'followers', just keeping tabs on some happenings in my other interests.

I like the idea of Soundcloud, but they REALLY need to enforce their rules both on the user level (refusing to autofollow someone in return for following you, or liking shit back and forth regardless of how good or bad the track is) and on the admin level and kicking out the stupid fucks pushing ads and services.

It's that kind of crap that makes me hate the internet in general. Always someone out there trying to scam and stinking up the places with their $$$ bile. GTFO already. Keep your virii and bullshit to yourself.

I like sc cus I get to follow people I like, and can put on the stream and hear their new tracks. If I don't like the music I unfollow... And vice versa. I guess I get people to hear my new stuff who wouldn't normally hear it (thru the kinda auto-networking that happens) so it's led to some new relationships. It does have its problems though. I like the ease of uploading too. Bc I have to go thru a whole process

I have no issue with people being fans of music on sound cloud or even twitter, more so referring to people who wouldn't try something new unless it was deemed cool or sanctioned by another person. Lingerers.....people that lurk around creativity like men that wish they could fix a car so they stand around it when the hood is up and offer their meaningless opinion. Social networks allow people to work together more effectively which is great for the art and culture. I guess I just wish I wasn;t crazy and could play well with others
