a nice free compressor is the roughrider compressor, I typically use it on a bass line or drum channel but I believe it would compliment an SP-resample joint well

I've got Alesis NanoCompressor. I don't use it too much, but when I do, it does the trick. I also have two broadcast monophonic compressors I use in parallel (Rolls GLC) now and then which are full analog. They're okay, but they're better for limiting than compressing as they're not intended to be musical but are for general radio broadcast.

I use the maschine compressor , it is good ... Always the 404OG: Vinyle sim , and ableton for the sidechaining otherwise . I'm curious about your new compressor

and it has that loud noise at 7 seconds. does this happen to any of you?

That's the attack of the compressor. Unless it has lookahead (which only exists in software as it looks at the buffer before applying) you're going to get that, especially when you're overdriving the compressor like that. You went from dead silent (where it raised the noise floor up) to playing sounds, like a -60dB to 0dB jump instantly. No hardware compressor is going to catch that perfectly.

well its comp related so its not really hijacking, the noise at the beginning is probably just the compressor processing the shit out of the noisy frequencies that you cant hear when the signal is uncompressed.
