not my challenge to say, but I think the sampletrak would be fine...comparable to SP capabilities , some stuff better some worse.

Sampletrak is cool as long as you explain your workflow, its similar to an sp anyway

Thanks man, I used the "a" in gay and put it on a quick gate+loop, then resampled with reverb to smooth out and make the synth and made the chord progression on the fly with chromatic pitch shift. For the snare it was the "s" in sell with vinyls sim to give it a hard attack, and fast tape echo to give it some tail. Same sample for both hi hats and kick. I used subsonic but to fade in/out to make the hi hats sound smoother, but didn't use it for the actual sub-tone. For the kick I used a combo of pitch down and voice canceller to beef up lows, and resampled with vinyl sim again to give it sharper attack.

Somewhat new guy to the forum here. I participated in a battle before, but was disqualified since I didn't have an SP. Now I've got a 303, which is a sweet piece of hardware. Here's my first real contribution:
http://soundcloud.com/mustacheninja/boy-aint-rightThe levels are jacked up, and it's kind of quiet since I didn't have time to adjust them in Audacity last night.
I used the 'G' in gay for the kick drum, ran it through the isolator and compression, and I believe I reversed it. For the snare, I used the 'P' sound in propane, and plastered it with compression and the lo-fi effect. The 'S' in sell was the hat, and I just gated that and adjusted the pitch. The almost heavy breathing sounds were the 'ay' in gay thrown through the isolator, reversed, and compressed. The 'bwaahhh' was simply reverbed.
It's not fantastic, but I think it's okay for a first go at a track. Any constructive feedback would be awesome!

hey so im new here to the forums! i just picked up a 404 a few months ago and i cant put it down seriously i dont do much else when im at my house.
i ran across this site the other day and its legit! I cant believe theres even a battle forum. this is what ive been looking for!
so hi everybody!
http://soundcloud.com/wheateater/i-sell-propane-resampleso where to start off....
kick- used the ay of gay, pitched it down, octave it, put some distortion, used the isolator and turned down the hi's and mid's and left the low and used subsonic
snare- i used both the p's in propane and the ah of what, put distortion on each and then layerd. on one of the p's i distorted it then i put subsonic on high and tweaked it to be fant. i took the kick and put it threw the isolator took out most the lows and mids and killed the hi. this thickened it up nice.
hi-hat- used the s and then i put it threw the isolator. i killed the lows and turned dow the mids and his (just a tad). then i turned it down to get the in betweens
rim shot sounding thing- was the very end where his voice got cut off.
distorted guitar sounding thing- was the ah in what. distorted it. then pitched it all the way down. ( if i was blind i would of thought it was a guitar)
synth sounding hits- i took a peice in the ay in gay and i put it threw the chromatic pitchshift twice so i could get it sounding like a seventh chord ( something like that) then i did this 5 times to get 5 different but relating hits. then i put a little reverb and layerd it all in. then when that was recorded i put it threw the wah effect and put it in where i felt it fit. i recorded this part and just let it played until i felt like i should stop
bass hit- i took the synth hit and turned the subsonic all the way up and twisted sum nobs to get the pitch i wanted.
final touches- for the final effects i used the isolator for the drops(thats where i put in the hank hill petrified scared noise), filter + drive, reversed all the talking and put it threw the flanger, used the ay pitched down when it goes into the panning part, also used delay.
i think thats all...
sorry for the grammer i just wanted to get it all out.
hope you all enjoy and feed back is appericiated!
