Do i have to assign a channel to record from USB, or is it already set to go?

Of course you installed the drivers... Then go into your Sounds/Audio devices in your control panel and select the Roland 606 And your ready to go...

I'm wit DR. on this one.. You can't import samples with the 555 using USB? I'm sure you can.. Here is a blurb form the Roland site..

Versatile sampling through Line input, phantom-powered Mic input,USB audio streaming, and WAV/AIFF import

Bundled Wave Converter software (Mac and PC) for importing and exporting WAV/AIFF files

The SP-555 can be used by itself or with a PC. It can be used as an audio interface for the bundled Cakewalk SONAR LE software or any other DAW or DJ application on your computer! With the bundled Wave Converter software, WAV and AIFF files can be imported and assigned to a CF card for use in the SP-555 (CF reader needed).

Yes.. you can do the same with the 555 as I do with the 606..
