an SP as a looping pedal?

Ok well I think I'm gonna get an SP. Unfortunately I'm not sure which one. 555 vs 606. I've read alot about them. I would be using it as a semi-loop pedal as a way to just make some layers during practice since it would just be 2 people playing (at the moment). I would also be using it as a song making tool to help develop tracks/layers and record them.

Anyone have any recommendations? The sp-606 seems way more computer friendly but I still haven't figured out if I'm much of a PC worker or not. Also it's limited with polyphony but it seems like its easier to edit samples with it. I certainly won't be Djing so any DJ features for either unit don't really apply to me. I guess it would be more from a producing perspective but live applications are cool since they could also be used for practice with a band.

Here's my gear list so you can get an idea of what I'd be sampling
Alesis Micron
EMU 0404 USB 2-channel Audio/MIDI Interface w/Cubase and others
Boss GT6-B Bass Effect pedal
Casio keyboard

then other audio sources
Farfisa organ, strat, j-bass, drums, various amps

hmm well actually after some harmony-central reviews on the sp-606 it seems rather limited. The internals of it must be outdated and sound like it gets bogged down easily over polyphony which is a definite no in my book. I wouldn't want something that couldn't maintain the beat.
