tape smoke records wrote:delete mode is a good creative trick but it kinda sucks, compared to the loop switch trick,

keep both samples on loop and slap at the same time while on is off,

you can also set them to trigger mode inbetween and do little hip hop tricks.

ahhhaha this all day

keep in mind though, the delete mode trick gives you the freedom to be much more creative than the loop method where you hit two pads at once.with delete mode, you can just improvise over your drum track in a recorder or whatever, then if needed you can re-sample chunks of what you played and piece them together, really dope,i got some stuff coming where i've done this, and there's no way i woulda ever come up with the chops & patterns if i had to plan them before hand.i've always been jealous of those mpc cats with the 16 pad mute group..just never understood why most of them only use an auto chopped 2 bars as opposed to chops from all over the record.

Delete is also useful for fadeouts and stuff. It kinda works like cancel, since it stops all samples, but only needs one button press (vs four on the cancel) and works like "input mute" for things like a delay or reverb (repeats/tails keep sounding).

Hi, do you know if the delete trick can be done with a fcb1010? it would be a great way to change from one loop to another without having to step over two buttons at a time. and easier to keep timing for shure.

thanks!

Ill Green wrote:Yeah, 606 got Mute Groups and possibly the 505. I could be wrong but I think it can be done on the 303 by using the Remain or Cancel button, or at least a workaround.

The 555 might too, but thats the only SP I never touched or saw physically.

also the 202 has the mutegroups, its C and D banks have no polyphony and cut each other off.good for pitching and holding samples while recording into the 303 for sequencing.
