i thought about adding a random question as finisher... mix it up a bit... i jotted down a feel random ones last night after i posted that track... but it's a work in progress... i feel u on the background beat but i just threw it together just to get this started... no mixing at all  lol it erked me not to do one drop but i knew it would keep me from jumping on this like i want to.

i just got up on skype and that would be cool to use but i havent tried it yet... ive got a cousin that loves it so maybe i can ask her for some tips and whatnot... but i just have my built in laptop mic... maybe i can configure protools to work with it... idk ill give it a shot later...

p.s thank you everyone for the input so far it's giving me alot to work with and i think this will be something great for the boards and others that we share our music with... props to everyone

A Skype, live interview type thing sounds perfect to me. It will have life, you know?

Yea I'm not sure if ProTools can record whatever your computer interface plays, but I know there are definitely programs that can do it. I'll look into it and see what comes up. Did you record those sample questions with your laptop mic? If so it sounded pretty damn good, so I wouldn't see that being an issue.

Props to you for keeping it moving and I'll give input whenever I can.

Niq, props on the project mans. Demo sounds solid, but I agree with Grok on just a lil quieter (but yeah, the beat yr vox, all proper). The Skype or equivalent is a good way to go. More n more news places are doing it that way.

Great idea mans. I'd sub for sure.

peace fauna man its been awhile since we spoke, but this thing is gonna be cool one i get the structure for long distance communication together... i think skype will be sweet so if groktopus find as way to record off it then thats a go for all of us... ill try my hand at it but the only audio interface i have besides my protools interface is my 606... now i figured out how to sample off that w/o any feedback through windows media with the 606 as the primary snd card.. but i havent tried anything like that with the net.. and it was on a desktop and those soundcards are a lil more forgiving than my laptop (glitches n pops sometimes or all around failure)

@groktopus i used a 100 dollar mic to record... it was done poorly but decent enough just to demo. ive recorded a few friends n it sounds way better when i put more effort into it but eh it's a start.

if anyone has gmail then we could try it that way... right now you can make phone calls through its service for free so that may be another route that we can take... if i can record us into my 606 ill do that just to get by till i learn more...

aight so the 606 will sample your voice but i cant get my oem soundcard to boost the mic levels properly. i havent tried skype so im looking for volunteers so that i can test that... otherwise i tried it through gmail and it works as far as recording...

yo man I can test it with you later tonight. I've been reading a little about recording computer interface sound and it seems pretty easy, but I've been busy as hell at work so haven't tried it out yet. I think it's as easy as having the right program though.

thanks man... ill be home so we can do it if you arent to tired.

im still working on using gmail... i figured it would be easier to sample the convo into my 606 (even though it compresses it). it would be fun to through an effect on during the convo, lol.

but def give me a buzz if you do find something... otherwise im gonna start working on the music side right now...

hmm haven't tried using google to record but thats a possibility too. I just found this program (http://www.powergramo.com/) that records 2 ppl talking on Skype in the free version, I think for more ppl at the same time you have to pay. But it seems pretty chill. Only downside is it's PC only, but I bet we can find a mac one.

this one looks way better, it's for mac.. http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/

they want you to pay too but you can trial run it first I bet it would be enough.

this is gonna be great. demo's perfect and like mecha said you'd make a cool host.

sounds like you're having trouble with the audio? I tried to read as many posts as I could but I didn't see what the prob was...anyway, I could probably help with issues related to mic->interface->computer and stuff like that. fwiw my humble talents are at the service of this sweetass project...

also, what about "email"-style questions? like "this one is from Jack in Oklahoma. Jack wants to know..." I think that would give it a classic vibe (it might just be really stupid, so maybe nevermind...)

but yeah, anyway i can help midwife this shit into fruition, just holla.

well the big issue is recording our conversation... me grok are suppose to try a few things tonite with skype and a few other programs but at the end of the day it's kind of complex (when it comes to free :D ) to route audio through a system like that and actually sound good w/o having a broadcast type set up... i.e comps, broadcast mics... etc..

so by rerouting the audio we hope to achieve a method for recording our convo w/o A. chopping it into pieces and B causing a loop or signal issues...

if you have some experience please chip in...

maybe give ustream (website) a try... i did video battles with wax on there, and never had any loop issues... as long as both channels are un-muted you should be able to get a good-qualtiy recording in real time where both people can hear each other-- an alternative to skype... you can even record the audio within the broadcast by clicking on something if i remember correctly.

"I was talking about this with my friend Ryan Irelan, and he let me in on an old recording-industry technique with an unfortunate name: The Double-Ender. Although traditionally used for television, the double-ender works just a well with audio, and it’s growing in popularity within the podcasting community because of its simplicity. It works like this:

An interviewer […] would be videotaped conducting an interview via a long-distance phone call to the interviewee in another part of the world. This interviewee […] would be videotaped as he was being interviewed. This videotape would then be sent to the interviewer’s city and synchronized with the videotape of the interviewer […] and the higher-quality sound of the videotapes would be used instead of the telephone audio.

This is precisely what John and I do when recording The Talk Show, and it’s exactly what you should do any time you’re recording audio where the people involved are in different locations."
