Play samples while routing input signal through effects?

Post by caduceus »

Can you have an input signal playing through SP-404's effects while triggering samples on the SP-404 and hear them together? I'm thinking of getting one and wanted to make sure that there isn't a limitation like only being to hear the input signal by itself.

You can only use 1 effect at a time however- inother words, you can run ext input and as many pads as you like through the same effect- changes to the effect change all samples going through it- but if you assign a different effect to another pad the original effect turns off- so you have 10 pads with reverb, then assign vinyl comp to something else= no more reverb.

veterans correct me if I am mistaken...

ok, but i can have no effects for triggered samples and only use the 1 effect for just the external input right? i figure i'll just resample if i want effects on the internal samples...

Yeah, just resample for effects on internal samples and you can use the live effects processing for an external source like a guitar or keyboard.
